Valeria Covo began her career as a political journalist in renowned Colombian television networks and radio stations such as W Radio, Caracol Radio, NTN24 Channel and Mundo Fox.
During the 2013 Miami International Fashion Week, Covo became a part of the logistics team at Cat Walk Pros — Beth Sobol’s event agency in Miami.
Her strength and passion is business, and in particular, the world of fashion and of wines. For this reason, she is one of the most recognized female entrepreneurs in Colombia.
She is the founder and owner of CAVA Wine Bar & Shop — a special little spot in the G Zone of Bogotá, at the juncture of wine culture and good taste. She is also the creator of the blog: Fashion Sommelier (www.fashionsommelier.com), a website that pays homage to the old drink of art, fun, and memories.
Valeria founded LaBoutiquePR firm in 2014, a public relations firm specializing in fashion and lifestyle. The firm has worked with such brands as Forever 21, L’Occitane, Fossil Watches, Hermés, Givenchy, Azzaro, Kenzo, Loewe, Clarins, and Thierry Mugler, among others. She is currently the CEO in Colombia of COVO Boutique PR, a new alliance with her sister’s firm: Sabina Covo PR, a Miami-based firm founded in 2017.
Covo holds a degree in Communication and Journalism from the Javeriana University in Bogotá. She received her MBA in Beauty and Fashion Management by the Esden Business School in Spain, as well as a diploma in Personal Shopper and Estilismo.
Named as one of the most influential Colombian-Americans in South Florida by The Americas Community Center and Broward County, and awarded as one of the Top 20 professionals younger than 40 in South Florida by Brickell Magazine in 2013, Sabina Covo brings on to projects more than fourteen years of journalism, writing and communications consulting experience, both in the United States and Latin America.
She has been a reporter, TV and radio host news anchor, and correspondent for Telemundo 51 where she started her career in 2000, Mundofox, Cadena Ser, La W y Caracol, La televisión Nacional de Austria, Prisa, Canal Cartagena and ADN Chile. She co-hosted La Ventana in Caracol along Pedro Sevcec from 2008 to 2010. Sabina has interviewed personalities such as Secretary of State Madeline Albright, Colombian Presidents Alvaro Uribe and Juan Manuel Santos or international star Julio Iglesias to name a few. She has covered elections since 2004 including both democratic and republican national conventions. As a panelist Sabina has been on Mega TV’s implicados, Maria Elvira Show, multiple America Teve Shows, Ricardo Brown on Mundofox and others in Latin America. As a political news anchor Sabina currently covers AN5 in America Teve. She writes a Sunday politics column for EL Nuevo Herald since 2008.
Sabina Covo founded her PR agency Sabina Covo Communications LLC based in Coconut Grove in 2014. She has been a spokesperson and PR Manager for Audi Latin America, Avianca Airlines and different clients in diverse industries. She has traveled promoting luxury brands. In 2008 she got a Building Our Community Award from international entity March of Dimes for her work within the organization and in 2009 she was nominated by the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce with a “Raising Star Award.”
She graduated from Florida International University with a Communications and Political Science Degree in 2001.
